WHAT TO EXPECT

Personal Attention.
Because the founders and directors are also the Expedition Team Leaders, we are able provide personal attention to each of the 8 to 10 members of an Expedition Team. We are proud of the fact that we answer the phones, reply to your emails, and personally review all of the applications. We believe this allows us to create a unique personal relationship with each of our Team members and their families.

GrowthGear.
Once you are ready to pack, check out our list of the personal gear you will need to bring with you. It’s stuff like camping clothes, a sleeping bag and a backpack. Our list also gives recommendations about what to bring that is both lightweight and durable. Of course we will supply the Team gear that is shared – tents, cooking gear, food and any specialized equipment we will need during the expedition. Safety.
Safety is always first. At Terrapin we are dedicated to creating both a physically and emotionally safe environment for our Expedition Teams. We maintain a participant/adult ratio of 5:1 or better during our expeditions. Team leaders and directors Todd Erler and Alice Ostdiek have more than 20 years of combined experience leading outdoor adventures. Todd is a Wilderness First Responder and has life guarding and CPR certifications. Alice has Wilderness Advanced First Aid, CPR and Swiftwater Rescue certifications. Our specialist guides are all certified in the activities they lead. We are dedicated to maintaining the highest safety standards throughout our expeditions.

Eat well. Play hard.Food.
Your Team Leaders like to eat well. And being outside climbing, hiking, or kayaking makes us hungry. One of the best parts of being a small camp is that we can create our own healthy and tasty menus for each expedition. Whenever possible, we buy fresh, organic foods. Making our own grocery stops during re-supply allows Team members some input into the meals and ensures that our menu never gets boring.

Fun.
Always expect the unexpected.
